Scope Of Work
New registration website to educate smart device owners and non smart device owners the incentives of registering their smart devices with Connected Savings and to walk users through the registration process from beginning to end. New engagement user interface design for registered users.



Challenges
Previous user interface concepts were off brand and did not contain enough research to ensure an effective user experience for both a registration website and user dashboard.

Approach
Gathering use cases by utility company and location, researching current and future smart device registration OEM's, designing for graphics API so other utility companies can easily integrate the registration portal into their own branding.

Process
Minimal design for a cleaner user interface and reduce drop off by giving the user incentives to continue. Reducing the number of steps from start to finish as well as gathering minimal user information to help representatives engage the user for further information should the user drop off. Matching the user interface for the dashboard by incorporating design elements from the enrollment website.

Result
Design, development, and testing are still ongoing. As testing is being conducted, design is standing up however external partners are still finding fringe use cases within their continuing user research. Users are unlikely to sign in and view their dashboard daily due to the "set and auto learn" nature of the smart devices. This finding justifies a simple web dashboard over a native app to save time and money on development.



Metrics
While still under development, testing has shown 75% of users are less likely to drop off the website. Of the users who drop off, 80% provide the minimum information (email address) to allow us to continue engagement.
